Parents' Education Level in Children's Upbringing & Character Moulding

Some said that a person's character is built by the environment he/ she lives in & the experience gained over time. I personally feel that parents' attitude & education level play big roles in how a child gets his/ her personality & character built.

A person's mentality is very much influenced by that of his/ her parents, whereas education level is one of the factors influencing one's mentality.

To a pair of couple with low education level, earning enough money to cover daily expenses & maybe to have a luxurious life are more important than spiritual & mental development. In the Chinese society, children are taught to master mathematics from a very young age as most of their parents are directly or indirectly involved in doing business. Hence, little attention are paid on language development especially the non-mother tongues, which are equally important in this multi-racial country. For this reason, Eastern people are less expressive in their emotions & thoughts, and are thought to be more introvert. (Correct me if i'm wrong.)

As the country becomes more developed, people get more educated and have their mindset & mentality changed.
More Chinese get recruited into the government sector to hold positions as professionals with their improved education level. More emphasis is put on language & spiritual development. There is no doubt that through reading, we gain knowledge, and through knowledge, we build our character and mentality. And to read effectively, one has to grasp the basics & style of the language first.
Parental guidance & encouragement come into play in inculcating reading interest in a child. For this matter, parents' education level strongly influences how much they realise and weigh the importance of reading and having a good command of several languages in this modern world.
In this era, children are exposed to electronic devices and the cyber world at younger ages. Through the internet and various television programmes, one can gain a vast range of knowledge about anything under the sun. Educated parents often exert more appropriate controls in filtering out certain things which are deemed unsuitable for their children, besides providing more educational & informative stuffs to them. Without parental control, young children who are less able to differentiate right from wrong, good from bad, gets carried away very easily & won't benefit much from the modern technologies.

Hmm... I realised that i need to brush up my skills in writing... It seems to have got a lil' bit rusty over the years in which i've not been writing much as during my post-SPM and post-matriculation years way back in year 2005 & 2006 :P

All in all, I'm very grateful to my parents who have been encouraging my sister and me, and providing us the best learning environment. Although I don't have the best character & personality, but at least I've the chance to step foot on the university campus to pursue a professional degree, with a very promising future in hand :)

A good command of English is important in learning scientific stuffs as one who has it has less problem in comprehending the text and related articles, thus learns faster and more effectively. I sincerely hope that our younger generations will not be deprived of their opportunity to learn Science & Mathematics in English for the betterment of their future.
(Oops... Out of topic, again >.<)

2009 -> 2010

Happy New Year!
New year resolutions? Well, i'm afraid to make any as i don't want to disappoint myself if i couldn't achieve what i've planned :P Ok, it's time to get rid of this cowardice mindset!

What year 2009 meant to me
Reaching adulthood (21 years old) :P
Realising the power of positive thinking & self-confidence according to Rhonda Byrne's book The Secret in influencing outcomes in my life ;) There's a will, there's a way! (Must finish reading that book :P Yes, i've not finished reading the whole book.)

Year 2010: A year of Hope
Hoping to finish whatever i've started
Hoping to improve myself in all aspects
Hoping to achieve the best i can give
Hoping that our world can be a better place to live in ;)

Happy New Year 2010!
