Results out!

my 1st semester exams results are already out... i'm very lucky to have survived my 1st semester in my 1st year -- i passed all 4 subjects :) 'though i didn't get any distinction but i was very lucky to have actually passed my Biochemistry paper, which i expected to be a failure... but there are some which i'd expected to have done well turned out to be a moderate pass.. in fact, i got the same grade for all 4 subjects :) well, it's only a fraction of my 100% score, hmm.. i've to do well in my 2nd semester and really buck up in my finals :) it's not a study-exam-and-throw-away course... well, it takes time for me to accept the outcome and i've to find out my weaknesses and improve on it before everything is too late..

Hols ending soon :'(

going back to UM on this Friday morning by bus... still cracking my head in doing my Oral Biology project.. and oh no! i nearly forgot that i've to search information for my Biochemistry PBL(Problem-based Learning) project! and i've promised myself to read a chapter on Physiology before going back to uni... oh gosh!
the wireless connection at home is really unstable... what to do? i'm only 'hijacking' on other people's line hey! well, i can't complain much about things that are free-of-charge.. can't take everything for granted... so if you so happened to be chatting to me using MSN Messenger (well, i'm using Windows Live Messenger and it's cool!), and i suddenly appeared offline before bidding goodbye, you'd know that my connection was terminated again.. oh, not again?!
now, let me tell you something... it's not always good to have internet connection at anytime, at least for me... as i'll get so addicted to surf the net.. that's why i've spent so many days on doing my OB project report :P and i'll chat to friends who're online at that particular time when i'm online... and updating my blog... kinda time-wasting huh? but this is the only time that i'm really free to check on my friends' updates... and blogging is my preferred way of letting my friends know about the my latest news... too bad that only a few read my blog frequently... or did i not update it that frequent? :P
i love kimchi! since my parents brought back a big bag of kimchi (which costs around RM50) from Korea, i've been eating it with almost whatever dishes i feel is 'too blend' :P (nope, my mum's cooking is great!) just to tickle my tastebuds with the spicy... oh so hot... kimchi :)

Being mischievous

sis recommended an online unlimited free SMS service to me recently.. wow.. it's so cool as i can send free-of-charge messages, as many as i wish! however, this service is only for outgoing messages, but who cares? :P
it's such a blessing that i brought my lappy back home as i can 'hijack' on my neighbour's wireless connection :P hmm.. i'm not sure it's from which neighbour tho.. however, the connection is quite unstable and the signal can be very weak sometimes... and this neighbour of mine seems to call it a day very early, hence there's no late night for me :) well, i can always use the dial-up connection at home but i'm too lazy to move my locked-up lappy from my study room and the phone must not be engaged for too long as people might want to call in or my family might want to use it.. hmm.. i don't want the phone bill to be a good reason for my parents to nag on me either :) despite knowing that 'hijacking' on other people's wireless connection is unlawful, who can resist the temptation from using a FOC service? oh, a typical Chinese, i am :P
just now in the afternoon, i started to bombard my sweetie with lots of SMSes, knowing that he'd been asleep for more than 2 hours :P 'being mischievous' is always on my to-do list... despite knowing the fact that waking someone up is a big no-no at his house, i still wanted to play with the fire as i was sooo bored doing my Oral Biology project (yeah~ i'm still doing it:-/)... so i started to send him lots of SMSes via the free SMS service, non-stop! did you just call me a naughthy girl? yes, i am :P
this continued for hours... until he finally woke up and send me a message, warning me not to disturb his sleep again in future... or else, well, i'm sure to get it from him :P oh no! he's really angry with me this time :P luckily i wasn't by his side at that time... phew~ escaped from death :P
alright, sweetie... i promise not to wake you up from your sleep anymore... i'll be a good girl, ok? :)

Back at home

my parents are back from Korea! they bought some food and keychains, didn't buy other things... nope... mum didn't spend on clothes as it's near winter in Korea now, the clothes are autumn and winter outfits... things are very expensive there... hmm... both of them have the same comment on this trip - it's quite interesting to be exposed to and learn a different culture but to take Korean food e.g. kimchi, bim bim buk, and cabbage (there's no other veggy!) as staple food everyday *sob it's torturing! Besides, they also find that the scenery in Korea isn't as beautiful as it is in China and New Zealand...
i'm now at home, writing my Oral Biology report... oh... i really have no idea on where to start and how to write... lots of journals to read and extract the important points... and it's due on the first day of my 2nd semester! *deng ;'( i can only blame myself for not writing it earlier on... i've lots of stuffs to read! i've to prepare for my SDL (self-directed learning) sessions, or Prof. Subra'll kill me! i've to prepare for my exams! ...now these are all excuses... or am i really that busy?
really miss all my friends... some of them are in the midst of STPM, some of them are having exams in colleges, some of them are working, some of them are enjoying their holidays at home, some of them are on vacation, some of them are overseas...and some are craking their heads like me while writing their reports :P well, good luck, mates :)
to my sweetie, "good luck in your coming scholarship interview ^.^ Miss ya..."

Bored...

oh... i'm so bored at granny's house :P can't go online at anytime as i wish... can't watch Astro... no mood to do my Oral Biology project report... no mood to study... hmm... waiting for my parents to come home on this Sunday... miss all my friends... miss my darling too :) will start to buy new clothes for the coming Chinese New Year as i'm only coming home on CNY eve after this break... hope that my results (going to be released in the first week when we go back) won't be too bad... will work harder in future :)

Exams are over!

it's a wonderful trip to A'Famosa in Malacca.... rejuvenated ourselves after a year's hard work...
study week and exam week weren't pleasant as i was cramming as much things as i could into my head throughout that week. Truthful enough, i wasn't in my full gear for Biochemistry & Oral Biology exams... hope that i can pass all 4 core subjects & 2 university compulsory subjects :)
broke down a few times during study week... thanks to my family members and all my friends who'd stood by me and gave me moral support :) and a special thanks to my sweetie who've been very supportive all this while...
"sweetie, thanks for encouraging me, teaching me to think positively and holding me up whenever i fall... it's been hard for you to hide your stress during your study week as to cheer me up and not to upset me further... i apologise for not being observant enough during these past 2 weeks :) if it hadn't been you standing by my side when i was down, i wouldn't have had that much courage to face every obstacles... thanks a lot, sweetie :)"
my results will be out during the very first week when the second semester starts... I'll be very busy in January as I've 3 projects going on in that particular month... luckily, they all end before my birthday :)
lost 2kg of weight... can fit into my mini-skirts again :)
dad & mum went for holidays in Korea. sis & i'll go to granny's houz in a short while... i've to complete my Oral Biology research report and read up some stuffs during this 3-week holidays till 10th of December...

Back home for Hari Raya holidays

i came home last Friday, bringing back lots of notes and a few books to read... why? to prepare for the upcoming exams!
caught cold in the bus, it was raining throughout the journey and very cold in the bus... i put on my sweater but still, it's not warm enough... i've been having blocked nose and coughing since the day i came back... it's better now :)
as what i've expected, i didn't really study much at home... due to the flu and cough, plus the television :P, i've more than enough excuses to leave my notes on my desk, barely touched... i've only finished reading 3 chapters of my Biochemistry :'( planned to study Physiology too, but my whole family will be leaving for A'Famosa in Malacca on Friday morning... *sigh
with these conditions (flu and cough), i don't think i'll be fit enough to join the rest of my family in the water park... mum won't allow me to go either... i think i can only join them to the cowboy town at night, unless my condition got better...
university reopens next week... one more week of classes, plus a week of study week, i'll be sitting for my very first exam since i entered university... wonder how i would perform... hope not to fail myself and all my love ones... wish me luck :)

Conjunctivitis!

one of my coursemates got conjunctivitis (bacterial infection in the conjuntival sac - in the eyelids) 2 weeks ago... i got the disease from her last week! only my left eye was affected... went to the student health clinic, got the eye drops, eye ointment, vit. C, antibiotics... didn't recover but got worse! Uncle brought me to USJ Taipan Clinic on Sunday, got another kind of eye drops... went to UM Medical Centre to get my eye chekced by the specialist... the ophthalmologist said that the infection had spread to my right eye! the condition of my left eye was quite serious, with pseudomembrane formed in the superior region of my conjunctival sac... she removed the pseudomembrane, it bled! ...it's normal :)
my condition got worse as my eye was allergic to the eye drops (Chloramphenicol)! i didn't know about that!
went to the hospital for a follow-up thsi morning... the doctor said my condition was improving :) went to a pharmacy (Prima Health) in PJ SS2 to buy a stronger antibacterial eye drop - Tobramycin Dexamethasone. it contains steroid, so it should work faster...
a special thanks to my bf and his 5th year buddy for helping me :) i need not mention it here, but u guys should know what i mean :)

Exams!!!

today's the election day of the Majlis Perwakilan Mahasiswa Universiti Malaya @ Malaya University Student Representative Council...
casted my vote this morning... it's kinda politicial... can't comment much here, and actually, i've not much knowledge on this :) hope that my bf can win the election to become one of the student representatives of his faculty...
Exam 1.2 is scheduled in mid-November... haven't prepared much... aiming high but not sure whether i can hit my target or not... anyway, it's 10% of the total score... some see it as little, but i think it's quite important 'cause if i can score high in minor exams, i won't have to worry much in the finals...
Oral Biology - easy to score, but i don't really like it...
Biochemistry - lots of memorisation needed... boring... hate it...
Anatomy - gross is fun for thorax but definitely not head & neck!
Physiology - love it the most!!! but it's the hardest to score high...
hmm... gotta be more hardworking... to distress? i'll listen to Maxim's music :) cheers~

Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Pelajar Matrikulasi Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia 2006

it was held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on 16 September 2006.
on the night before the ceremony, all award recipients are required to attend the rehearsal at PICC... my parents came all the way from Johor to pick me from UM to Putrajaya on Fri evening... the traffic was very congested on Kesas Highway... luckily, i wasn't late... most of the award recipients spent the night at Pusat Latihan Bank Simpanan Nasional, a hostel in Kajang, near Putrajaya... reached there around 12.30am after the rehearsal! slept at around 1.30am, woke up at 5.15am, 'cause breakfast was scheduled at 6am... but eventually, the food was only ready by 6.30am... oh~ didn't have enough rest...
wore my newly made pink kebaya :) waited for the Deputy Education Minister for an hour outside the auditorium... was very tired 'cause i was in wearing high heels! there're 297 of us, chosen from 1000++ student who got CGPA4.0... 20000++ matric students in total... so we're 1% of all the 2005/2006 intake students :) we're selected based on our academic performances and co-curricular achievements... and we're nominated by our college lecturers respectively... met many familiar faces there... most of us are UM students...
all 297 award recipients received a certificate, a piuter plaque and an RM200 cheque. the best students for each subject and each stream were given another certificate, a trophy and an RM300 cheque. the best student received a certificate, a trophy and an RM1000 cheque...
exam's in mid-November... barely grasped anything in Sem1.1... gotta catch up with the rest before it's too late!

Back in uni...

nw at new Dental Fac computer lab... searching for online journals for my Oral Biology project... have to read 10-15 journals... the title -- "Honey and Oral Health"... anyone who's got reliable e-jounal websites, please send me the URL ok? thanks :) i'm using PubMed and ScienceDirect...
arrived at 6th after 7pm yesterday... traffic jam! oh, it's common here in Malaysia :-/
slept at around 1.30am last night... was preparing for my Anatomy SDL (student-directed learning)... woke up at 5.45am... didn't go to sleep again... was sneezing for hours! for unknown reasons! i'm really tired now...

UM won again!

UM team won the Asian Inter-Medical School Physiology Quiz 2006! this is the 4th time we emerged as the champion! congrats to the 2nd-year medical students who've represented UM! congrats, dear :) *wink*

Going back to uni tomorrow...

Tried using wireless connection this morning... hmm... found out that there's wireless signals in my area!
enjoy chatting to friends through MSN... especially those long lost friends...
today's the day when my bf and his teammates meet participants from other unis, some from other countries, for the quiz... too bad i can't be there to support them 'cause i'm only going back to uni tomorrow... anyway, good luck!

New Lappy!

dad bought me a laptop

Acer Aspire 5550 series...

on my request lah, for sure :P

okla, i'll treat it as my reward for getting the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Pelajar Matrikulasi 2006 (Outstanding Matriculation Student Award 2006)

my family will be coming to KL on next Friday to bring me to Putrajaya for the rehearsal on Friday night. the ceremony's on Saturday morning. this award is given to matriculation students from all matriculation colleges in Malaysia, who've excelled in their studies... my KMPh lecturers told me that the lecturers're the ones who nominated a few students, and the final decision of selection of students was done by the main panel of judges in Putrajaya... wow... what an honour! i didn't expect to get this award at all as i wasn't the students' representative in college... and i learnt that only 2 Chinese students from KMPh received the award last year... they're my friends, Jade and Mok, both UM medical students staying in 6th. for this year, there're more from KMPh... so to all my KMPh friends (session 2005/06) who've received the notification letter, please inform me via e-mail, sms, IM, or friendster so that we can meet up in Putrajaya :) see you there!

Hols going to end soon...

going back to uni on Sun afternoon with Wei Ming and Xin Jie by Transnational express bus... have been busy and lazy recently... :P too much to blog about... hmm... wonder who are the ones who really read my blog...actually, i treat blogging as the most convenient way to keep updated on friends' information... i'll read my friends' blogs whenever i've extra time to do so... it's such a waste for me to blog but at the end, no one really read them...
of Buddies...
went 'shopping' with Pooi Kuan in the evening immediately after the announcement of buddies... actually we went to PJ SS2 to buy a cloth and other materials for the convo banner... spend another RM20+ on buying medicine... sigh~
had dinner with buddies and my graduated buddy - Pei Hong at Mid Valley' Manhattan's Fish Market (can't really remember the correct name, sorry for that ^.^!!) the food's really delicious... do try out!
Pooi Kuan's really nice to purposely come to 6th (i'm staying at UM's 6th residential college) to help me in doing the convo banner for Pei Hong... i remember that she'd stomachache that morining... thanks, buddy :)
our banner turned out to be the nicest :) but longest... had to ask Meng Yit and others to help me before my buddies come after their class... thanks a lot :)
it's so touching to see seniors graduating... wonder when'll be my turn... June in 2012? only if i passed all my professional exams... wish me luck!
Pooi Kuan passed me all the buddy stuffs in "hard and soft copies" :) she's really a hardworking and intelligent lady... hmm... find it hard to get back all my momentums when i was in KMPh...
of Studies...
have been relaxing for half a semester as there's no test / exam in Sem 1.1.... gonna strive hard from now onwards!
almost every week, we've to study the cadavers and organs in the dissection hall during our Anatomy lessons... luckily the cadavers are 'dry corpse', meaning we're not looking at fresh ones, which will be very frightening!
so many things to study and master! and we've not much time! seniors told us that we've to think differently from those doing other courses... 'cause our timetables are packed from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm! we are taking more subjects than medical students... we've an extra subject - Oral Biology, besides another 3 subjects which are the same as theirs - Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology... apart from that, all 1st-years are required to take 2 compulsory university subjects - TITAS (Tamadun Islam dan Tamadun Asia Tenggara @ Islamic and South East Asian Studies) and Kemahiran Maklumat @ Information Skills...
fortunately, i've been trained in KMPh to be independent, and i'm used to hostel life... but i still prefer the hostel at KMPh than 6th 'cause KMPh's new! but the study environment here is better as it's the Clinical Students' Hostel... 90% of the inmates are medical and dental students... so everyone's equally busy...
Announcement...
Asian Inter-Medical School Physiology Quiz 2006

9th of Sept, 2006

those who are interested please go... how i wish i could be there to support my bf but i'm only going back to uni on Sunday afternoon... UM has won this quiz for 3 consecutive years, this year's the 4th... Good luck!

Sem 1.1 going to end soon!!!

my Sem 1.1 is going to end soon but it seems that i've not really mastered a single topic! that's so sad! maybe it's due to the time constrain brought about by the orientation- all of us got burned out last month... but it's really fun tho... hmm... nothing to blog about... well, sorry for the craps :P have been very busy since i started uni... now i've to join many activities in my residential college in order to get merits to get a place in the college next year... huhu... i don't want to stay outside of the campus 'cause i've got no money! well, will see you guys during my semester break! 2-10 Sept

Friday, August 18, 2006

Busy with studies...

orientation's over! i'm very lucky and glad to get into Szu Hui-Joan & Chun Meng-Daniel & Kee Chung-Pooi Kuan's buddyline!!! they are all very friendly and helpful and crazy and funny and caring, etc. :P orientation's fun and we'll always have a good laugh thinking about it now after it's ended :)

now all of us are busy catching up... wow... we're really busy and we've this Senior, Junior and Staff Nite tonight! we've been practising for the past 2 weeks and had our rehearsal last night... hope that everything goes smooth tonight... i'm taking part in dikir barat...
my mid-semester holidays: 2-10 Sept. i'll be going home on 1st of Sept... see you guys then :)

Friday, July 21, 2006

Orientation!!!

have been ill since the 3rd day in UM... gastric problem again... luckily the PM's (pembantu mahasiswa @ students' helpers - direct translation :P) of my residential college have been very friendly and helpful... they really took great care of us... PM's, thanks a lot :)
took part in English sketch... i was the narrator + doctor... actually i was having fever that evening... unfortunately, our group didn't win although we performed very well... it was a comedy...
now still coughing... sigh... UM is infamous of its informal orientation, especially for the medical and dental faculties... i'm still alive :-/ don't worry...
dental students have the busiest life as we're taking more subjects than medical students... our timetables are so packed that we've lessons from 8am to 5pm from Monday to Thursday, with an hour's lunch break at 1pm.. 1st-year medical students seldom have lessons in the afternoon and they are free after 12pm on Friday... we dental students even have lessons on Friday afternoons! :( we 1st-yr dental students are taking 4 core subjects: Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Oral Biology, whereas the 1st-yr medical students are taking only the first 3 core subjects... yeah, both dental and medical students are studying almost the same things in our pre-clinical years...
dental life's very hectic and busy and we seldom have time for ourselves when we're in our clinical years... wonder whether i can take it or not, as this is not my 1st choice after all (read my previous postings for more details)... i hope i won't regret taking this course but persevere till i get my BDS degree.. i'm going to be called "Dr. Soh" after 5 years! yeah! ...well, wait till i've passed all my exams first lah...
all right, till then :)

Saturday, July 01, 2006

End of Hols

22nd of Apr - 1st of July, 2006 = my holidays...
now, my days of relaxing at home, watching TV, surfing the net, reading, etc. have come to an end... it's time to study now!!! i'll be leaving home early in the morning tomorrow... it's hard to believe that i'm now a dental undergraduate in UM... how time flies! how i wish that i'm still a young girl, with no worries, no responsibilities...but just an innocent girl :'( the time has come for me to further my studies, to gain knowledge, and to get my degree in dentistry... hope that my uni life's exciting, informative,...wonderful!
orientation week: 2nd of July - 8th of July
well, i don't think i'll have the time to go online during orientation week 'cause it's packed with activities from 7am to 11pm everyday... will update my blog as soon as poosible... till then...

Watch out! England's going to beat Portugal tonight! go, England. Go!

Medical Checkup

Done! Finally...
spent 2 days waiting at government hospitals and banks... so many people...
had to wake up very early in the morning... now, i'm not feeling very well...
haven't finished packing...

watch Scary Movies 4 with sis yesterday... actually, we planned to watch The Fast and The Furious (or something like that, it's not my decision anyway) but end up watching ScMv4 'cause TFTF's rated 18SG; my sis is under-18 :) ScMv4's such a lousy movie! it's only an hour long! and the storyline's full of craps! was so disappointed...

Going to Residential College 6 - Ibnu Sina

RC 6 is nearer to Faculty of Medicine and UMMC (UM Medical Centre), near UM's PJ entrance, but it'll take 20 minutes to walk to Faculty of Dentistry! oh...
heard that the dental faculty hasn't have its own specialised library yet 'cause it's a new faculty (previously, dental students were under the medical faculty.)... so dental students have to go to the library at the medical faculty... hmm...
England was very lucky to get into the Quarter-Finals! David Beckham's once again proven that his free-kicks are superb; thanks to Becks, Eng won 1-0! but they're merely lucky 'cause they didn't perform as good as they should have been since the World Cup finals started... with Michael Owen back at home, Eriksson's left with the aggressive+young Wayne Rooney, inexperienced+too young Theo Walcott and the redundant+"walking bamboo" Peter Crouch... he took the risk by changing the formation from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 last night and it proved to be a big failure as the midfield was so crowded till Steven Gerrard had to run side-by-side with Frank Lampard! and Lampard's another unlucky guy who's got the most shots on goal than anyone else in the WC finals but none of them hit the back of the net! sigh~ hope that they can win Portugal in the Q-finals...

Going to UM

got my 1st choice, University of Malaya - Dentistry.
kinda said 'cause my close friends in KMPh who applied Dentistry didn't get their 1st choice... they're also offered Dentistry but in USM (Kelantan campus)and UKM... my mum told me that the alphabetical orders of our names were taken into consideration as our applications were sorted out by computer.. since my initial is 'E', and my friends who applied dentistry have their initial as 'S', 'T', etc., we got into different universities... another friend got food tech... anyway, congrats to those who got into U!

went out with Yong May on Saturday and bought a pair of shoes... it's the 1st time i bought something on my own! wow.. joined other girl friends at Real Joy and watched England Vs Trinidad&Tobago (replay) together...
:) most girls watch football matches only during World Cup and our purpose is to see good-looking football players on the field! haha... our knowledge on football is only the tip of an iceberg but we enjoy the matches as much as the guys do :P
England players didn't perform well in the last 2 matches although they won.. hope to see improvements in the coming matches... and hope to see them in the finals :) David Beckham's still my favourite football player

my auntie and her family from S'pore visited us yesterday... we had lunch at a restaurant to celebrate Father's Day... after lunch, we went to K-Box in Summit Parade and had a karaoke session... it was quite fun except that we'd to pay for more than RM20 for an hour, which was very expensive... they went home in the evening...

Raining outside...

hmm... the weather's weird nowadays... unpredictable... it can be very hot for a few hours before a heavy downpour... and now, it's raining heavily outside...

it's been 2 weeks since i last got online... kinda lazy :P

29 MAY - 4 JUNE
went to Genting Highlands with my family and my maternal granma... wasn't a good trip up there as everyone, except my sis fell sick!
we had our dinner at a famous Chinese restaurant (but i don't remember its name! hmm... ) at Gohtong Jaya... many celebrities from Hong Kong and other countries were customers here and they left photos on the walls... the food was really delicious!
then... dad had diarrhoea the next morning before we went up to the peak from Awana Resorts... i accidentally left my phone in the apartment... so, we drop mum, granny, and sis at First World Plaza, and went back to Awana to get it... why the fuss? 'cause dad's worried if my phone's stolen, it'll be a big problem as i'm using postpaid service and if that person happened to call international calls and the bill's going to be a huge sum... <- oh, what kind of language is this? whatever...
by the time we got back to First World Plaza, dad started to feel giddy and he threw up...in the toilet...
minutes later, dad left us at the restaurant and went to First World Clinic... TADA!!! that's when my turn came! i started to have breating difficulties after eating a few spoonful of porridge... then i felt nauseous... quickly, i asked my sis to accompany me to the toilet as i knew that i was going to throw up sooner or later... AND on the way to the toilet... i slowly lost my consciousness... my sis told me that she was calling my name but i don't really remember that... BANG! BANG! i blacked out and knocked my head against the wall when i was going up the stairs... sis told me after i regained consciousness that i was very stubborn for not listening to her when she shouted to me and told me to sit down... but i don't remember that at all! what i remebered was i saw white stars slowly filling in my field of view from the edge of my eyes and finally everything went white! the next thing i remembered was when i was sitting on the staircases and i saw figures around me... sis told me later that a security guard, a tour guide, and another man came to help when they heard the BANG! BANG! hahaha...
my sis felt so helpless as she's not strong enough to hold me from falling... "you're so heavy!" she complained :P
the tour guide helped me to the clinic and asked my sis to call our parents... i gradually regained consciousness and heard my dad's phone ringing from inside... "oh, my dad's inside. thanks for helping us." "huh?! how come your dad is also in the clinic?" :D the tour guide was puzzled! hahaha... so did the doctor!
to cut it short, dad paid RM75 to First World Clinic in total... i was diagnosed with low blood pressure... i threw up several times later on...
that afternoon, dad's elder brother and his wife (my uncle and aunt lah :P ) came to visit us at Awana... NOW listen carefully! my mum's the 3rd 'victim'! she too, felt nauseous and threw up... her condition was worse than mine! later in the evening, my granny started to feel uncomfortable and had no appetite. she skipped dinner... now everyone except my sis is down...
we left Genting Highlands ASAP for Kedah the next morning... something must be wrong there...

in Kedah, my maternal granny's place... the weather's still the same... very hot.. nope! it's extremely hot!
watch X-Men III in GSC cineplex with sis and my cousin... i don't really like action movies... but the story's quite nice :)
attended my mum's cousin's wedding dinner before heading back home the next morning...

we visitted dad's university-mates in Ipoh on the way home. it's been 8 years since we left New Zealand in Dec 1998. dad was under JPA scholarship to pursue his 1st degree in TESL in University of Otago, Dunedin during 1997-1998. mum brought sis and i to NZ in Sept 1998 when i was still in Primary 5. JPA gave us allowances. life in NZ was so wonderful as we needn't go to school! i did brought some exercise books from m'sia but didn't study much eventually :P we travelled on our own from South NZ to North NZ, east to west, after dad finished his studies... the main purpose we went there was to attend dad's graduation ceremony in Dec...
however, 1999 was the most challenging year for me as i was going to sit for UPSR at the end of the year, after coming back from NZ. i was in a premier school. my classmates had already started Primary 6 lessons during the school holidays in Dec 1998! and i also had to study Pri4 books on my own as i was a PTS scorer who skipped Pri4! oh! luckily i managed to get 6As out of 7 subjects... hmm...

Uncle Richard, our housemate in NZ has gained weight... his children, Denise and Alvin have grown up. we couldn't recognised Alvin from his photo as he's now 12-year-old. he was only 4 in 1998!
we also visitted Aunt Mavis, dad's U-mate... her 3 sons are now teenagers and look so different! how time flies huh?

5 JUNE
attended another wedding dinner in Johor Bahru. it was dad's cousin's wedding.
Bro Alvin bought me a tee in New York. it's very beutiful! Thanks a lot :)

WORLD CUP 2006
watched world cup with dad and sis. Go, England! Go!

wow... this post is really long! well, will update my blog next time :)

decision time

went to Gua Musang (Fox Cave), Perak and Cameron Highlands, Pahang with mum n her colleagues on Saturday 1.30am and came back on Sunday night. reached BP at around 9.30pm.

our tour guide in Gua Musang's very hilarious and friendly... he pointed many rocks in the cave that resembled the shape of anything... for example, dolphins, cowboys, monkeys, etc. we walked for around 600metres in the cave... it's very tiring to climb the stairs... the cave's about 120metres high... nothing much to see actually... 'cause i don't like mountains and caves :P

luckily Mdm Kee, my mum's colleague brought her children, Xin Ning (my friend since primary 2) and Zhong Hong (my senior) along to the trip... if not, i'd be bored to death 'cause most of my mum's colleagues are at least 30 years older than me! really happy to see Xin Ning as we've not met for quite some time... and i also grabbed the opportunity to ask Zhong Hong, who's just finished his 2nd year medical studies, questions about courses to choose...thanks a lot!

it's my 2nd time to Cameron Highlands. we visited almost all the farms and plantations. enjoyed this trip very much as most of my mum's colleagues a really friendly and young-at-heart and "crazy" though they're not young people anymore :P will upload some pictures later...

check my MOE matriculation results yesterday...
Sem 1 GPA 4.00
Sem 2 GPA 4.00
CGPA 4.00
English - LC (lulus dengan cemerlang @ highest band)

i'm really grateful to all my lecturers in KMPh... especially the really dedicated ones :) thanks a lot!

after considering for a day and a night, i've decided to change the choice of courses to take up in U...

before this, almost everyone told me to take up more challenging courses, such as medicine, dentistry and pharmacy given that i've the ability and a high chance of getting a place in the U with my Sem 1 GPA 4.00. they told me not to waste this golden opportunity, as there're many people who aimed to do these courses but failed to get a place in the U because their results couldn't fulfil the requirements to do so. however, i told them that i want to be a U lecturer+researcher+scientist doing stem cell research or something else in the related fields. then i googled for details on a researcher and U lecturer's job... it's not easy... as dad said, you'll have to wait for fundings, and that might take years... you'll end up very frustrated when people don't give you the money to do your research... and your research might not be accepted by others and it might be useless at the end...
besides, being a U lecturer'sn't easy too... you'll have to start from the 'bottom level' before getting the post you want...
both researcher and U lecturer aren't on their own, they are working for people...

since i got 4.00, i've more options, or maybe less, as i'm expected to take up more challenging courses :-\ my parents explained to me about the future of becoming a dentist... 'though life of a dentistry student might be as suffering as that of a medical student, they have a more relaxed clinal studies, they're not 24hrs on-call. they only work during office hours, or maybe a bit longer... and after a dentist opens his dental clinic, he's on his own, free to arrange his appoinments, and the profits are good after doing postgrad studies and become a specialist.

if i got pharmacy, i might not want to be a pharmacist doing retail jobs. i'll do my postgrad studies and still continue my passion in doing researches... probably lecturing in U is also a good option!

so at the end, i edited my choices of courses for my 2nd phase U application... i put dentistry and pharmacy as my first two choices... i'm not sure whether my decision is correct... but ability wise, i'm confident that i can do it... interest? well, dad said it can be cultivated :)

pls help!

hi friends,
i'm an ex-KMPh (kolej matrikulasi pahang) student (2005/2006). my matric results will be out next week. jz wanna noe about the sains hayat course in UM. i put tat as my 1st choice in the 1st phase of IPTA application.heard that u'v 2 study all basic things for all disciplines (biotech, genetics, bioinfo, etc.) during 1st yr, n if u got >3.67, then can u choose courses like genetics, bio tech, etc. is it so?i plan 2 b a university lecturer cum researcher, preferably doing stem cell researches. heard that i'v 2 do biomed instead of biotech.well, i planned 2 do biotech n later on, genetics for my masters. however a bio lecturer in KMPh told me that biomed students have to study as hard as medic students but they end up jobless or work in labs all the time. is tat so?i'm very confused... sorry to trouble u... jz wanna noe more to avoid taking courses that don't suit me:P thanks in advanced

Holidays till July!!!

yeah~ i've already finished my matricualtion studies! goodbye, KMPh! now enjoying my holidays at home till July!
my 2nd semester exam results will be out on 22 May!
will be going to Genting Highlands and maternal granny's house during school holidays...

SPM Results (New Addition)
how time flies! it's been more than a year since i got my SPM results. well, now there's another one addition to my results-> 9A1s, 1A2 (Moral Education), 1B3 (Chinese Language). some might be quite disappointed with my chinese language result but hey! i hadn't studied that subject after my secondary school studies and i think it's very good and lucky to get a B3, you know! well, it's a 'credit' after all...

PSPM 2
my 2nd semester exams were quite tough..
Maths - both paper 1 and 2 were tough.. there're questions that i couldn't answer.. that's bad!
Biology - only 90% preparation done.don't get the wrong idea! i did revise earlier... and that's why i couldn't remember the factual parts of Biodiversity... i hate that chapter... i don't find it useful... but indeed, it's very informative and we should learn and know how living beings evolved from primitive organisms.. well, i better don't go too detail here, or else those who're not doing life science subjects might not be interested :P
Chemistry - was the easiest subject to me, 'cause i'd the best chemistry lecturer in KMPh, Ms Z (full name not provided here to protect her privacy), as my 2nd Sem chems tutor! we, 4H20 are really grateful to her as being so dedicated! we luv ya!!!
English - the objective questions were easy except for the comprehension passages which were quite confusing... summary and esssay questions were easy too..

Finding Jobs
hmm... thought of finding a part-time job related to IT.. i've always been interested in things related to IT, 'though i might not be really good in certain aspects... however, since i'm going to genting and granny's place in kedah during school holidays on 29May, and only to reach home after a week, i won't be able to work for fully a month. that's why, i think no one will be willing to hire me as i'll have to take leaves... :'(
so, i've to stay at home and watch TV (my favourite hobby!), surf the net, help my mum in doing house chores, learn cooking, go outing with friends, etc. that's what i've to do till July! help! hmm.. i might want to learn something online... a foreign language, maybe:) well, let's see..

My Laziness
have been so lazy lately... i came home on 21 Apr, right after my examination as the college administrators had instructed us to leave the college by 9pm on that very day... it's been more than 2 weeks and i didn't even go online till yesterday! how lazy, huh?

Choosing Courses
went to visit teachers in my former secondary school... some teachers commented that i should take up more challenging courses such as medicine and pharmacy given my ability, and it's such a 'waste' that i chose to do biotech and aimed to be a university lecturer... hmm... this is the problem why nowadays there are more and more people interested in taking madicine and pharmacy.. that's because the older generations have this kind of thinking and perception that the best profession, problaby the most profitable one is a medical officer... now i'd like to advise my friends... choose the course that you're interested in, of course, based on your ability... have a goal in your life! i really pity those people who don't know what they want to be after they've graduated from university... perhaps they aren't competent academically, or perhaps they aren't good leaders, and lack other soft skills... i never deny that i also lack some soft skills but i've always told myself that i've to be confident in myself and always take opportunities to upgrade myself, learn new things, and prove my abilities, given that i've the time and pleasure to do it..

My goal: to complete my 1st degree, preferably in biotech or related disciplines, and continue doing my masters in genetics or related diciplines, before applying to be a university lecturer and do stem cell researches, etc.

I Believe In You

i'm at home now.. came home yesterday by bus and going back to college by bus tomorrow...
the Director of my college, Tuan Haji Muhamad Hasnan bin Ismail has retired since yesterday... we'd a ceremony yesterday morning... last night, he'd a dinner with all the lecturers and staffs, including the wardens, at that's why we students were asked to leave the college yesterday as there's no one to 'supervise' and 'take care' of us the whole night.
...hmm... let me recall what happene when i reached college after the CNY holidays...
my mum was the oen who discovered that the bees had come back to rebuilt their hive at the same location! (please read through my previous posts if you don't get what i mean :)
immediately, i inform the warden but was told later that the chief warden didn't want to call the fire-fighter like what they did previously as he thought that the bees will go away soon.. he said that the bees were finding a suitable place to built their permanent hive, and they're just temporarily here! so we'd to wait.. and we really waited for more than 2 weeks before the kind cafe boss used an insect spray to chase away the bees... sigh*
i was one of the 3 emcees for the official ceremony of the CNY celebrations organised by our Student Council. had a very busy time during the preparations and rehearsals... were very busy with the scripts and stuffs... the 3 of us worked very hard... the ceremony was video-taped, but then, 90% of the parts when the emcees were talking were 'cut' off, i mean, not included in the CD. however, the things that are included are the photos before, during, and after the ceremony... let's think rationally, why would someone delete the part of the emcees, which i think is important to introduce and inform what's going on, but include the photos? don't they know how to differentiate which's more important? can't they just include less photos to allocate disc space for us? didn't they told us that the emcees are very imprtant to introduce the history and stuffs about CNY, and explain the Chinese culture to everyone? we've already done our part by cracking our heads to find words to make our scripts more 'presenatable' and informative. wasn't that good enough?
got straight As in my mid-semester exams :)
the Minister of Education, Dato' Sri Hishammudin bin Tun Hussein, and other VVIPs visited our college last week. our college is the 1st among the 11 matriculation colleges in Malaysia to get the MS ISO: 9001; 2000 certificate! to get this, our lecturers had a very busy time preparing al the documents and stuffs needed.. Kudos! to all the lecturers of KMPh!
my final exam's in next month : 17-21 April. wish me luck ya :P till then...
p/s: i really love "I Believe in You (Je Crois en Toi)" by Il Divo and Celine Dion. it's an English+French song... tried to search for it's free mp3 version in the net but failed..... to anyone who's the file, could you please email it to me? thank you very much.. and please tell me where to search for free mp3s as i always end up with sites asking for US$0.11 :-/
"I Believe in You (Je Crois en Toi)" by Il Divo and Celine Dion
Lonely the path you have chosen
A restless road, no turning back
One day you will find your light again
Don't you know
Don't let go be strong
Follow your heart
Let your love lead through the darkness
Back to a place you once knew
I believe I believe I believe in you
Follow your dreams
Be yourself an angel of kindness
There's nothing that you cannot do
I believe I believe I believe in you
Someday I'll find you
Someday you'll find me too
And when I hold you close
I know that it's true
Follow your heart
Let your love lead through the darkness
Back to a place you once knew
I believe I believe I believe in you
Follow your dreams
Be yourself an angel of kindness
There's nothing that you cannot do
I believe I believe I believe in you

came back to BP last Friday by bus, and going back to college on next Wednesday by car.
had a bee hive under the roof on top of my window of my hostel room a month ago! its size's as huge as a normal household pail! was very frightened... firefighters removed it the very next day.. thank God, nobody was harmed.
